Well, to know and understand the reasons, please go through the statistics showing comparisons between the two allrounders. 
Sourav, born in Kolkata and is a rare Bengali to play for India and earn respect from the whole country as a cricketer and as a captain whereas Ravi Shastri being a Mumbaian is no where nearer to Ganguly both as a cricketer as well as a Captain. If Ganguly is known as a sanitizer of Indian cricket, Shastri is known as the greatest womaniser of Indian cricket. 

Moreover, Shastri is a coach by virtue of  buttering and manupulating many stakeholders including our Captain Kohli. Shastri as a coach has big failure records till date not a single win in icc trophy…!

Shashtri is a loud talker with the bad habit of demeaning the achievements of many past cricketers and is in a habit of always degrading the achievements of ex.cricketers.. !

While being the most ordinary strategist, he also has no quality to choose the right players in right place…!!

He is a perfect boot licker of Indian Cricket Board and a puppet in the hands of Captain Kohli. That's the reason for which a gentleman and a great humanbeing and cricketer like Anil Kumble was replaced by him so easily. 

He licks the boot of the stakeholders so perfectly that inspite of his failures in big series like icc tournaments such as..2015 world cup, 2017 champions trophy 2019 world cup.., he is still holding his position as a cricket coach of Indian team !!

A Casanova playboy like Ravi Shastri who lives an extravagant lifestyle related to all sorts of non cricketing reasons is not considered appropriate as a “Coach” of a sports team who is primarily responsible to influence his team and inculcate values, principles and skills.  Also, everyone knows that how he got his current job of head coach of Indian cricket team and the position was not achieved on merit. He was recommended by Virat Kohli or rather Virat forced him on BCCI. It is perceived that Shastri does not have any say in the team practise sessions as well as team selection and strategy. He bows to Virat Kohli. 

Ravi Shastri is the only coach so far of Indian Cricket team who got all luxaries and facilities of Indian Cricket Board without yielding any significant result. 

Except Tendulkar, most of the Mumbaikars are largely responsible for biased team selections and emphasizing on cricket lobby and politics and Shastri is perhaps one of the best when it comes to cricket lobby and politics.

So both as a cricker and as a honest leader, Shastri is no match to Ganguly and Shastri understands this much better than anybody else. And that's the reason he continues with his useless attempts to demean Sourav Ganguly.

That first drop of rain on my eyelid at Mussoorie.

Cool breeze blowing in a dark, cloudy, stormy Mussoorie evening and I stare at the sky above the mountains to see the birds flying back home with their usual chirping. Suddenly a drop of rain falls into my eyelid and creates a hazy vision of Mussoorie Mall road. And then a sudden glimpse of someone after 30 years !!!!  Before I could take another look at her,  the downpour and the reflections on the rainy streets drove me back to the flashbacks of waiting outside the school gate in those rainy afternoons, covering my face beneath an umbrella after school hours to get a sight of her.
