How to choose an open economy Business School.

How to choose an open economy Business school is a million dollar question which goes around the minds of every MBA or PGDM aspirants. Let me share my opinion. From my experience, I personally feel that the Closed Economy Business Schools were more focussing on the hypothetical factors like knowledge and skill areas. Whereas the Open Economy Business Schools these days focus more on unseen or abstract factors like attitude and soft skill necessities of a student side by side with the development of knowlege and skill areas. In open economy Business schools, lot more activities and events are happening. Gone are those days when the students used to be confined within the 4 walls of a classroom. Now a days, education starts from.the moment you enter inside a Business School and start interacting with a student coming from a different part of the country. What I mean to say is that for the present generation MBA aspirants, the education starts with the internal communications, sharing of knowledge and cultural attributes, learning the demographic and psychographic attributes and diversities of each other . These are the factors which will shape the right attitude, body languages, communication styles of the MBA aspirants and will distinguish them with a different pedigree from the rest of the world.

So as a first priority, a student has to look for a cosmopolitan environment in a 21st Century Business School where the students and teachers will come from different diversities.

The Pedagogy of a Business School plays the crucial role where the teaching methodology should be more inclined towards adult education system . What I mean to say is that apart from the theoretical exercises, more focus has to be given towards the implementation process of whatever is taught inside the classroom so that a MBA aspirant can learn to handle the crisis situations and the objection handling. So the updated case studies, the live projects, the collection of research papers of the faculty members in the library along with regular industry visits and Corporate Guest Lecture sessions will play crucial role.

And ofcourse you need the advanced infrastructure and technology walking side by side to give a complete shape to a 21st Century Open economy Business School.

I am associated with Unitedworld School of Business which is a part of Karnavati University. I would invite all of you to visit the lush green, eco-friendly campus of Karnavati University with the 21st Century State Of The Art Infrastructure which offers a play ground with eight floodlight stands, a parlour, a worldclass modern gym, two ampitheatres,5 residential girls hostel and a boys hostel, a huge 500 seater AC Cafeteria, a basketball and a DJ ground, advanced digital communication labs and tools, Open air food and freakout zones, a huge central library and what not. These may sound lavish, but then today's generation need the help of advanced infrastructure and technology to motivate themselves. The moment you step into a 21st Century Business School, you must have a feel as if you have stepped into a Corporate World where you have to spend the two most important years of your life which will decide your career. To cope up with the study pressure, you need to rewind and refresh your mind. So ideally you must get all facilities inside the campus .

The vibrant student life with regular events, sports and festivals happening inside the campus will create a free atmosphere inside the campus so that you interact with each other freely inside the campus and this will increase your emotional involvement with the campus as well as the curriculum.
Ofcourse the factors like updated curriculum, strength of the intellectual resource base, placement profiles, strong alumni network and the background of the Institute plays very impotant role.

So in a nutshell, please concentrate on the following factors while choosing a B School :

1. Cosmo peer group/ Cosmopolitan environment.

2. Infrastructure and Technology

3. Student Life

4. Soft Skill Development

5. Pedagogy

6. Curriculum

7. Stength of the Intellectual Resource Base.

8. Placement

9. Demographic and Psychographic quality of the students.

10. Background of the Institute.
