For all MBA / PGDM aspirants. Take your own initiative and create the difference.

Hello and Good Morning to all MBA aspirants.

I am associated with Unitedworld School of Business and Unitedworld group/ Karnavati University - Kolkata and Ahmedabad. From my experience of 18 years in education sector and overall 27 years of working experience in Private sector, the following are my advises for the future MBA aspirants -

1. Instead of emphasizing too much on placements, check the background of the faculty resources of any B School and also the pedagogy and case studies, researches, Corporate guest lectures, Industry visits and live projects. Ultimately your future depends on the transformation you gain in 2 yrs while studying MBA and this transformation depends on the education which will strengthen your foundation.

2. Focus on your communication skill. Apart from the efforts taken by the B Schools, take your own initiative to improve your communication skills. Develop regular writing habits on any topic which will help you to improve your phrasing of long sentences and vocubulary. Then close the door and stand infront of a mirror and try to speak to your own image on that topic for 10 mins. This helps you to develop your body language and spontaneous speaking ability. Practice this daily for one hour.

3. Develop your outer knowledge. Read newspapers, business magazines,English news channels and keep yourself updated about the changes happening in Business and Political world and increase your knowledge about the current affairs. Keep yourself updated about the business trends and changes happening in the industry. This will help you to create a different pedigree for yourself when you appear for the campus interviews. More you increase your outer knowledge, more you boost up your confidence level which will shape up right attitude within you. Remember, the interviewers prefer fresh MBA graduates with right attitude and knowledge.

4. Attend your classes regularly and allow yourself to be used like a pencil by the faculty resources. They will sharpen you and convert you from a raw material to a finished product for Corporate. Have trust on your faculty resources.

5. Most importantly, focus more on job profile than the salary part. Remember that MBA for any Management Education aspirant is a 4 years curriculam. The first 2 years you spend in your college and then next 2 years you have to sustain in the Corporate world with your first placement. There you have to unlearn whatever you learned in the BSchool and start afresh with the handling of the real obstacles you face in the Corporate world. Therefore you need a suitable job profile keeping in consideration about your internal attributes and limitations, so that you get time to learn and sustain in your first job.

6. I will conclude by saying that every B School tries their level best to make you their Brand Ambassador with a suitable placement. But ultimately you have to take your own initiatives to create the difference with others and win in the competitive world. It's a two way traffic always.

Thanks for your patient reading. Hope the above mentioned points will guide you towards success.
